"Sibling Rivalry": Genetic study of BR in twins

This figure I created illustrates a number of overlapping points: (i) discordant stimuli are used to induce BR via dichoptic presentation (i.e., one to each eye); (ii) monozygotic twins (pictured) and dizygotic twins were participants in the largest BR study to date assessing the heritability of rivalry rate; and (iii) orthogonal (discordant) gratings are classical BR stimuli, which are depicted here as orthogonally oriented DNA helices, representing the substantial genetic basis demonstrated for BR rate.
