"Fond d'assiette"

"Fond d'assiette"

Laser scanning confocal image showing a triple staining of drd1a-EGFP (green, striatonigral neurons) combined with phospho-ERK (red) and DARPP-32 (blue). This image was excluded from the study due to the poor quality of immunostaining. However, the irregular color tone recorded in each channel separately provided a wide range of colors when triply co-localized. Artwork pretends to illustrate the binocular field seen in a psychedelic microscope, although it has rather been related to the center of an old-fasioned dinner plate. This image was selected as cover illustration for The Journal of Neuroscience (28 May 2008; 28 (22)). Picture by J. Bertran-Gonzalez and E. Valjent.
