Double staining of Lys-14 acetyl-histone H3 (red) and eGFP (green) at the ventricular zone adjacent to the dorsal striatum of drd2-eGFP BAC transgenic mice. Note the expression of eGFP matching only about half of the red nuclei in the striatal zone (right). Cells organized in layers at the ventricular zone (left) express high levels of histone H3 acetylation, so the perimeter of the ventricle is perfectly defined by stratified puncta. Image by J.
