Cerebellar Development Transcriptome Database (CDT-DB) (http://www.cdtdb.brain.riken.jp/CDT/CDTSearch.jsp) is a neuroinformatics database for sharing and mining large amounts of systematized data regarding the spatiotemporal gene expression profiles which are the basic information on the genetic blueprint of mouse cerebellar development. CDT-DB contains huge amounts of gene expression information in terms of developmental time-series patterns, brain regional and cellular patterns, and tissue distribution patterns obtained by microarray analyses, in situ hybridization analyses, etc. CDT-DB not only provides the easy-to-use interface to cross-search for expression data, but also includes brain image viewers, graph analysis tools, gene ontology search function. All registered genes have hyperlinks to websites of many relevant bioinformatics regarding genome, proteins, pathways, neuroscience and literatures, so that CDT-DB acts as a portal to these bioinformatics websites. CDT-DB has already been demonstrated to be valuable for neuroscience research (for example, identification of several brain genes important for neural circuit development) and has gotten high evaluation by specialists.
